The last time most of us saw Tim Huskisson play basketball, it was at Willard High School and he was 6-foot-4, 190 pounds. After one season at Division I Northern Colorado, where he started 17 of 28 games and averaged 6.5 points and 3.3 rebounds per game, he’s 6-5 “and some change,” hovering around 203 pounds.

Huskisson, a business and communication double major at UNC, stopped by TAG HQ (334 W. Walnut B) to hang out in the studio with TAG’s Allen Vaughan and Brett Johnston to catch up on his past season. The topics: Whether or not he’s transferring to Missouri State, getting so much playing time early, dunking on people (including UNC teammate and Branson native Tate Unruh) and much more.

Adam Faucett will play The Outland in downtown SGF on Saturday (April 28). TAG caught up with the Arkansas song-writer the morning after a basement party in Omaha (while he was still in said basement). Learn of beard maintenance, constant song-writing, and tour vans (in one word).

SGF probably best remembers Les Izmore as the Real Rhymers Camp official Granny Smith apple advocate. He left for Kansas City five years ago where he emcees for the 15-piece rock/funk/tribal/hip hop band Hearts of Darkness. HOD is making waves across the midwest, with billing on some of the region’s biggest festivals and stages. It will play Kauffman Stadium at a Kansas City Royals game for the second year in-a-row in 2012. Hearts of Darkness will play in SGF this Friday (April 27) at Highlife Martini Lounge. There’s not a mathematician in the world who can get them all on that stage, do NOT miss this one.

Izmore also released a solo album near the end of last year, aptly titled Granny Smith Theorem. He plans to have another project out this year. TAG caught up with Izmore to talk about his band, Real Rhymers Camp and the green labeled apple.

Kansas City rapper Steddy P returns to SGF Friday, April 13 at Outland Ballroom supporting upcoming album BetterMakeRoom (IndyGround) which will be released Tuesday. The bill has local support from J-None and Trak Masta Tom. TAG caught up with Steddy, listen to the conversation below.

Listen to a web-exclusive interview with San Francisco Giants prospect Mike Kickham. The former Missouri State hurler made his first 2012 start for Double-A Richmond Monday and still owns a spotless 0.00 ERA. Kickham, a left-hander, from Glendale High School is regarded as a top-20 prospect for the Giants.

Former Missouri State center — and Missouri Valley Conference Scholar-Athlete of the Year — Will Creekmore has finished his NBA Developmental League season with the Tulsa 66ers and swung through SGF to celebrate his 23rd birthday.

A third piece of SGF music on a rainy Thursday, and another gem at that. Here’s Sister City with “The Outage”. Part folk, part pop, and all reasons not to mess around with an ex. “I don’t know what we are but I can never resist.”

“The Outage” is the lead single off Totally Worth It (release party Saturday at Outland, April 7, with Sweetwater Abilene and Plaid Dragon). You can buy a hard copy of Totally Worth It for $10 at the show or download the album for free online.

After the split of Jah Roots in which band and frontman (Josh Heinrichs) separated, the Jah Roots band became Jah Roots Band, keeping the rhythmic core in tact. The group’s rapper, I-Ron, remained and local emcee Brief was added to the lineup. In turn the band’s sound went from American reggae to this amalgamation of reggae and hip hop with a little bit of rock riff. The band finally hit the studio earlier this year and will release its first album, Support This, with the new lineup on April 20 at Outland Ballroom. “Truth Be Told” was leaked to TAG this morning. Here it is for your afternoon pick-me-up.
