Yes, it’s true, The High Road with Allen Vaughan is leaving Jock 98.7 FM. But, that doesn’t mean THR is dying. It’s the opposite. The High Road is evolving. It’s changing. It’s becoming more gangster.

All along, The High Road with Allen Vaughan has needed to be a 2-hour show. It started at one hour, because it was a way to get a foot in the door. But now, it’s time to capitalize on the momentum of being the area’s hottest sports talk show (ahem, the numbers back that up. Thanks, roadies) THR has always been on the cutting edge of technology in SGF sports talk radio — Podcasts. Webcams. Emails. Facebook. Twitter. All of those things will still exist, but the new broadcast format will look like this:

Sundays — 5-6 p.m. on KBFL 99.9 FM and 1060 AM

(OG) Wednesday — 9-11 a.m. on TAGsgf.com and UStream.com mobile app

5 Fingers Friday — 9-11 a.m. on TAGsgf.com and UStream.com mobile app

All podcasts will be up on TAGsgf.com and ITunes less than an hour after each show.

Yes, the High Road is leaving the Jock. But fired? Hardly. Cancelled? Give me a break. In business, opportunities present themselves and you have to take them. As far as the Jock is concerned, I thank Mr. Meyer and the Meyer Comm employees for their hospitality, kindness and opportunity. It helped start a revolution in SGF sports talk that isn’t stopping, but rather continuing to prosper and evolve. That’s what taking The High Road is all about.
