It’s rare that one gets a glimpse of Speakeasy‘s recording process. For starters, the band plays it relatively low key when it comes time to lay down tracks, and now that it switched from an album-recording approach to releasing songs via its website studio time is both more frequent and more brief. Lance Sitton, singer for The Seed by night and a photographer and videographer by day, was afforded just such a glimpse when the SGF rock institution went into Lou Whitney‘s The Studio on South Avenue downtown to work out some new material, and he made sure to take his equipment with him to capture the moment(s) and a little of Marcus Chatman, Shawn Eckels, Ryan Fannin and Reed Herron and their personalities within it, all set to the band’s most recent release, “Machine.” The result is a snippet of black-and-white, behind-the-scenes cool, and while it may not be safe to watch at work it’s definitely worth watching.
