Matt Adams mashed a year ago in Quad Cities (.355 BA, 22 HR, 88 RBI … yeah, mashed) and the 23rd round pick is suddenly a “prospect.” So much so that he skipped High A Palm Beach to begin 2011 in Double A Springfield. The Texas League pitching wasn’t so kind to Adams during the season opening road trip (or to any SGF Cards not named Ryan Jackson for that matter). The big-framed, big-swinging left handed first baseman could make child’s play of the training facility beyond the right field wall at Hammons Field, where he makes his debut tonight.
