With all the fanfare Missouri State’s 67-66 come-from-behind victory Saturday over Creighton was met with, you could hear the local fans beaming with pride about the Bears’ home-court advantage.

Well, the numbers back it up. After Kansas’ stunning home loss to Texas on Saturday and Pitt’s Monday home loss to Notre Dame, Missouri State and JQH Arena climbs to No. 6 No. 5 amongst the NCAA’s top current home winning streaks. Observe:

  1. Duke 30
  2. Kentucky 29
  3. Utah State 25
  4. VCU 20
  5. Missouri State 19

Not bad. And don’t think for a second that teams around the Missouri Valley Conference aren’t taking note.

Wow, we can have a 15-point lead on those guys in the second half and that lead’s still not safe?

Nope. Just ask Creighton.

MSU is at home Sunday night against Northern Iowa with a 7 p.m. tipoff. There’s no reason to think it could swell to 23 by the end of the season, save any postseason appearances.

Also, News-Leader reporter Lyndal Scranton recently tried to break down where MSU might end up in the BracketBuster on February 18-20. The BracketBuster selection show is Monday, Jan. 31.
