This weekend’s Ozark Mountain Daredevils reunion concerts at the Gillioz Theatre keep getting more interesting. At the time the concerts were confirmed the band’s lineup was expected to be an amalgam from the band’s 30-plus-year history, with only three of the original lineup’s six members present. We can now add a fourth original member to that lineup, as keyboardist Buddy Brayfield, absent from the band since 1977 when he left to pursue a medical career, will take the stage to perform with the group for the first time since he left. Why now, after so many years, you ask? According to Dwight Glenn, the concert’s promoter who has kept close tabs on such developments, it’s so Brayfield’s family can see him perform with the band onstage–particularly his kids, as they were born a few years after he left the group. There are more surprises in store for the shows, apparently–including the band’s introducer, KY3 news anchor Steve Grant, performing onstage with the band in some capacity during its opening song–but seeing a full two-thirds of the group that made the Ozark Mountain Daredevils name famous is a pretty good start.
