Tonight is high school football’s version of the preseason. With the full slate of HS football games beginning Friday, Aug. 27, tonight’s preseason scrimmages are the public’s first look at their hometown team against real live opponents.
And the best part of it? The event is called a jamboree. Yes, a jamboree. We can’t make that up.
Each team gets 12 offensive plays and 12 defensive plays against the other teams, and the field split in half for four-team jamborees. No score is kept, at least on a scoreboard. But you better believe the teams and players are keeping track. It also doesn’t last as long as a normal high school football Friday, so it’s worth your time.
