There’s no party like a birthday party. Inevitably, every one of them is either awesome or obnoxious. Chalk this one up under awesome: The Mystery Hour, the comedic take on a talk show hosted by Jeff Houghton at the Skinnky Improv Theatre just after the Mainstage Show, is turning four. Well, it’s completing its fourth season, anyway, and the show is throwing a big party at Gillioz Theatre Saturday, August 7 at 7:30 p.m. Five acts, all favorite past musical guests on The Mystery Hour, will all be playing a special concert on the Gillioz stage, one the staff unashamedly describes as “The Best Concert Ever in Springfield:” Jeremy Larson, the Fountains of Wayne tribute group Survival Car, J.J. Alberhasky, Stills & Grant and Focus! Focus! In between sets you’ll see videotaped highlights on a big screen of some of the best guests, interviews, skits and more from the past four seasons. All of this amazingness comes to just $8 for you to experience. If you’re lucky, there may be cake, too.
The Mystery Hour turns 4, celebrates with epic concert and, presumably, gross amounts of cake
