New Music Update: The North Decade, The Rugs, The Seed

update 250x221 New Music Update: The North Decade, The Rugs, The SeedIt could only be predictable that after compiling a summer and fall local album preview word would come along of records that slipped through our cracks. Some were just announced, others are still on the way, but while the pace of their news outran our ability to write about it in the midst of a busy week we wanted to get you the updates nonetheless. Therefore, we present it in quick-hit format for you to digest and check out. Here goes:

* The North Decade just released a two-minute teaser track previewing several songs from its upcoming album, tentatively titled What You’d Give Up Tomorrow You’ll Pay For Today. You can go to the music player on the band’s Facebook page and hear it right now.

* The Rugs are back, or, as their album title tells you, The Rugs – Are Alive! The band just finished and released the new record, recorded in one day at The Studio on South Avenue, playing all parts together simultaneously rather than tracking individually. Effectively, it’s a live record with clearer sound and no drunken crowd cheering. You can listen to the full album on the Moodring Records blog or download it now through iTunes.

* The Seed, one of SGF’s most eternally busy reggae and chill music groups, returns with its latest six-track seasonal EP titled To the Sensi Tree. According to the band’s description, it’s a bit of a throwback record, tracing reggae back to its ’70s dub years. Watch for a new theme record of this nature quarterly as the seasons change, and while you await the fall edition you can listen to and purchase To the Sensi Tree by clicking here.
