Armed with top-notch sources and elite connections from years of working the local sports scene, as well as quick wit and a sharp tongue from years of speaking his mind, TAGsgf.com’s Allen Vaughan is the perfect selection to bring a younger, smarter voice and a modern radio show to the Ozarks with The High Road weekdays from 2 to 3 p.m. on Jock 98.7 FM, starting Monday, July 19.
The High Road is a fun, yet information-laden show that drips with as much sarcasm and humor as it does news and game results. Opinions make the world go round and The High Road isn’t a place for fence riding. You may not agree with everything that’s said, but you will respect the argument, and in the least, be entertained.
Of course, most of the time great sports talk has little to do with sports. While sports is the topic that brings people together, those people all have a wide array of interests, just as Vaughan does. Movies and TV? He’s watching it. TMZ and celebrity gossip? He’s reading it. All types of sports programming and information? He’s consuming it. The High Road is a show that focuses on sports, but it’s more about the people and personalities who make up the sports and events we love.

With The High Road, you can expect informed yet humorous content with a professional edge: Interviews with top-notch guests. Special segments. Sound bytes. Inside jokes, etc. You can find all of it by taking The High Road weekdays from 2 to 3 p.m. but most of all, it’s a program inspired by listeners who think Springfield deserves something different.
Vaughan won national and state sportswriting awards while he worked at the Springfield News-Leader for nearly six years, four of which came in the sports department. Seeking to fill a need the local sports scene has been lacking, he and three other contributors created TAGsgf.com, an entertainment-based Web-only magazine, in January 2010.
The High Road is an extension of that idea. Jump on; it feels good do to the right thing.
