The Show Report, 6/11: Get Lucky Tonight

Lucky Tubb

The honky tonk comes to Springfield tonight. Lucky Tubb, grandson of country legend Ernest Tubb, is at Lindberg’s tonight with his backing band The Modern-Day Troubadours. (Ernest Tubb’s nickname was “The Texas Troubadour,” by the way.) Lucky carries on his grandfather’s tradition of honky-tonk country pioneered by the elder Tubb’s hit “Walking the Floor Over You.” The younger Tubb, meanwhile, has wisely teamed up with another retro-country artist (some of the time, anyway), Hank Williams III, for tours in the past. It’s a good night to raise a glass of beer–the cheap kind, befitting a honky tonk–and take in a night dedicated to a cornerstone style in American music.

Also up tonight:

* TAG Patio Party at Houlihan’s with host Jimi James. We’re rolling on with the tunes, sunshine or no. With the specials, too, which are spectacular. Happy hour all night and great music starting at 7.
