Ambel 250x218 Cropdusters + album recording = awesome show cameo tomorrow night

Eric Ambel

As we reported previously, local Southern-rock group The Cropdusters are hidden away inside The Studio on South Avenue working on the follow-up to last year’s Howdy EP. Tracking looks set to be finished tomorrow, and to wrap up the proceedings in style the band is bringing its producer onstage to play a few songs with it–not always something to get excited about, but when said producer is Eric Ambel it’s worth noticing. Ambel was an original member of Joan Jett‘s backing band The Blackhearts, played in The Del-Lords and backed Steve Earle as a member of The Dukes from 2000-05. Along the way he has also produced some of roots rock’s biggest names, from Ryan Adams to The Bottlerockets to Marshall Crenshaw. (Click here if you’re curious to read the full bio.) Ambel knows what he’s doing when it comes to rocking with the best, and we’re told you can see him sit in on a few songs tomorrow night (Saturday, May 29) at The High Life Live Martini Lounge. Not a bad cameo at all.
