No Depression has been one of America’s authorities on Americana music for 15 years, first as a magazine and now as a website. You could even say it was in on the genre’s ground floor; the magazine was named after the debut album and title track from alternative country group Uncle Tupelo, credited as being among the genre’s pioneers. If you click over to the homepage linked above, you’ll find a music player toward the bottom of the page and a most interesting name leading it off: local roots-pop group Brother Wiley and the band’s song “Ride,” a track from BW’s new album, Up the Ghost. It’s a nice tip of the cap, not to mention something of an album preview ahead of the formal release of Up the Ghost at Lindberg’s on May 29. Hop over and give it a listen.
