It’s been a couple of years since local basketball fans got a chance to see Christian Kirk play, but apparently Missouri State’s coaching staff currently likes what they see.
On Thursday, MSU offered the 6-foot-7, 195-pound St. Charles West High School junior a scholarship, according to new SCW coach Jeremy Jackson. Kirk played as a freshman at Kickapoo before transferring to St. Charles West and is the younger brother of Kyle Kirk, who was recruited to Missouri State out of Kickapoo by Barry Hinson in 2005 and Hannah Kirk, who played for the Lady Bears in the mid-2000s.
Rivals.com lists Kirk as having offers from Southern Illinois and Saint Louis University, and also lists Missouri, Illinois and Minnesota as interested parties. Scout.com lists Kirk as having offers from Butler, SIU and SLU and says Illinois, Minnesota, Missouri, Wichita State and Kansas as interested.
Kirk plays AAU ball for Kansas City Pump ‘N Run. As a high school junior, Kirk averaged 17.7 points and 8.8 rebounds per game while shooting 58.5 percent from the field. For the record, he was 0-for-3 from 3-point range.
