Kenny G 250x264 The Show Report, 4/24: Because Kenny G is more than a half hour away...

You blow that horn, Kenny...

Yup, none other than smooth-jazz saxophonist Kenny G is at The Mansion in Branson tonight. Sort of makes you glad you’re in Springfield instead, doesn’t it? If you’re already here in SGF, get ready for big-time shows at Remmingtons Downtown (Jah Roots Band) and The Outland Ballroom (In Chains, a tribute to the late Alice In Chains lead singer Layne Staley) among the night’s music-enjoyment options. If you’re not already here, Bransonites, make travel plans; you know the alternative. Let’s delve right in:

* Jah Roots Band, SincerelyYours and Cornerstone Dub at Remmingtons Downtown. If you couldn’t get in the door to JRB’s last show at The Outland Ballroom, you can now see them in a room more than twice the size. Hopefully that fits everyone in who wants to see the reggae-meets-rock-meets-hip hop power group.

* In Chains Tribute at The Outland Ballroom. Layne Staley is memorialized by hard-rock acts such as Avarice, Pillbox, Ilijah and About Time. If it’s anything like last year, the cover of “Rooster” will blow your mind.

* Members Only at Lindberg’s

* The Detectives at The Outland

* Shinebriter and The Hundred Hand String Band at Patton Alley Pub. Proceeds for this rare Shinebriter show go to help a friend of the band who was recently diagnosed with cancer.

* Sovereign, Get On Up and Break the Barrier at Nathan P. Murphy’s

* A Light Sleeper, Grace Classical Academy and Bringers of the Dawn at LemonDrop (416 W. Commercial). All proceeds from this concert go to autismspeaks.org.

* Shotgun Brothers at The High Life Live Martini Lounge

* Tuck & Abney at The Tipsy Turtle Pub

* Bootheel Contingent at The Ugly Mug Live Music Tavern

* Sequel Dose at Three 20′s Club
