Springfield Cardinal Nick Additon

Nick Additon is one of the great stories on the Springfield Cardinals. Drafted in the 47th round of the 2006 draft out of Western High School in Davie, Fla., the Cardinals followed the 6-foot-3 lefthanded pitcher and signed him after a season at Indian River State College in Ft. Pierce, Fla., just before the 2007 draft deadline. Though not blessed with high-octane velocity, the southpaw attacks hitters with his fastball and cutter, thwarting the notion that he’s finesse lefty. The 22-year-old has moved up a level each season.

Addition is scheduled to pitch Thursday’s home opener against the Frisco RoughRiders and TAGsgf.com’s Allen Vaughan caught up with Additon to discuss those finesse lefty rumors, how the second time around in Double-A is different and his goals for the 2010 season.
