KSPR Sports has learned a member of the Missouri State football team was arrested in downtown Springfield last Friday, April 2, after an incident outside Zan nightclub.

The police report says a 31-year-old man who works at Zan was assaulted. Sources say the victim was struck in the head with a brick.

The suspect was arrested and taken to the Greene county jail.

The case has been assigned to a detective who has a month to conduct the investigation and send the case the the prosecutor.

The 21-year-old football player is being investigated for second-degree assault, which is a felony. If he is convicted, he faces up to seven years in prison.

The player has not been charged and so KSPR NEWS is not naming him.

Calls made to head football coach Terry Allen for comment have not been returned.
