Some of the best scientific and medicinal minds in Springfield, Missouri are teaming up to give you a whole other kind of table talk. The Science Cafe is a cooperative effort between the Discovery Center of Springfield and the Jordan Valley Innovation Center to give discussion about research topics and trends an informal environment to more comfortably reach the public. Take, for example, the first Science Cafe tomorrow evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at Level 2 above Trolley’s Bar & Grill. When you get upstairs Dr. Paul Durham will talk about the growing use of natural products and nutrients to cure ailments such as migraines. Durham knows a thing or two about it, too, since he is the director of the Innovation Center’s Center for Biomedical & Life Sciences, and as such he leads a research team in the field. It promises to be a good opportunity for those who want to know how to cure their aches, pains and open wounds without using items that come from a lab.
Of course, the Science Cafe is also about getting your grub on while you learn, and you will be able to order food and drink during the discussion. If you do its cost will be the only one you pay; the Science Cafe is free to attend. Watch for more Science Cafes coming July 8 and October 14, each with a fresh topic to bring you. We’ll keep you posted on when those topics are announced.
