Trey Starks: Dunk of the Year, Part II?

Yes, we know we already had a post named Trey Starks, Dunk of the Year?, from last month, but we need your help. If you didn’t see Hillcrest High School’s 54-49 Class 5 championship victory over Oakville on Fox Sports Midwest, the Hillcrest senior had (another) one of the best high school dunks — if not best dunks, period — I’ve ever seen. (Editor’s note: The dunk topped SportsCenter’s top plays on Monday night…)

I’ll save the description for your eyeballs, but thanks to KSPR 33 sports stud Mike Scott, THE alley oop has surfaced on YouTube. So, I’ll pose the question, is this dunk better than the one earlier in the year when he posterized Joplin? I’ve pasted the two on top of each other. Cast your vote below in our comments section. And just so you know, each poor soul Starks victimized is 6-foot-6.

I’m a little biased, but I like number 1 because it was an oop and the guy didn’t even see him coming. Plus, the Joplin guy tried to take a charge whereas the Oakville guy was standing straight up. BTW, Trey watched it later that night and couldn’t believe it. No one knew he actually went over the guy.

Great job on the video. I like it because they are two totally different types of dunks, but you’re right, the guy never saw the oop coming. And Trey cleared him easily.

Guys I was at both games live and here is my thoughts…

The dunk against Joplin was more spectaculer live…It came outta nowhere…Of course this is when we didnt know just how good Starks is….

The dunk in the championship wasnt as spectacular live but once we saw the replay…holy @$#&….None of us in the stands knew he jumped over the guy..We all thought he threw it down on the guy and nothing much more..Once we saw Mikes replay we were all like “omg he jumped over that dude”

On a side note Taylor did throw a helluva pass….

I don’t understand why FSMidwest never showed a replay of the championshp dunk??? Isn’t that odd? I guess it’s like a lot of people, they didn’t realize how impressive it was live.

Great point, Mike. We were watching the championship game on TV and couldn’t believe it when we saw it live. We waited and waited for the replay, yet, it never came.
Way to go brother. If you all didn’t see it, Mike’s footage of Starks topped SportsCenter’s top 10. You can probably still catch it in rotation.

The announcers freaked out when they saw it, and even said that they couldn’t wait to see the replay on it. It is weird that they never showed it, especially because they kept showing highlights of other things he did throughout the game.
