Community notebook: Traffic signal cameras getting the boot, Patty’s Parade, K2, and more

The Community Notebook is where I’m going to put a few of the brief things I’m led to or emailed from time to time (mostly links, stories and events). We’ll get to it quick, bullet-point style.

Signal cameras Community notebook: Traffic signal cameras getting the boot, Pattys Parade, K2, and more* The Missouri Supreme Court threw out a $100 ticket and SGF will end use of traffic signal photography and outstanding tickets will be thrown out, but I’ll let Amos Bridges tell the story.

* The St. Patrick’s Day Parade is March 13 – you can still register your float. The parade has always been centered around inclusion, so join the fun.

* Springfield Public Schools Superintendent Norm Ridder doesn’t make the cut for same job in Lincoln, Neb. SGF avoids the school system carousel.

* SGF getting regional pub as the K2 Hub: K2 Mirrors Marijuana, on the rise in St. Louis

* The Well Fed Neighbor Alliance has created an online network dedicated to strengthening our local food sources. The site has been up for a while, but better late than never, right? Maybe not for too much longer. That’s why WFNA is fighting a vital cause, check them out.

* City of Springfield Public Works Director Marc Thornsberry has announced his intention to retire effective April 14, 2010, after 18 years of service to the City. Thornsberry has accepted a position with the Federal Highway Administration in Jefferson City. He will work as the division’s traffic safety engineer beginning April 26, 2010.
