James Gandolfini 200x300 DVD Releases (3/2): Wild Things were lost in Avatar shuffle

Mobsters in children's movies? Heck yes.

Edie Falco’s first season of Nurse Jackie was released last Tuesday, this week fellow The Sopranos star James Gandolfini has new swag out and this time he’s not playing anything resembling a New Jersey mobster. Where the Wild Things Are was one of the 2009 movies which got a little lost in the hype around Avatar. With stunning special effects and the incredible story, Wild Things has appeal for everybody in the family. The feature did well at the box office ($77.2-million), considering it was up against James Cameron’s beast, but probably not what Warner Bros expected going into production.

With that said, the week’s big release is the $166-million grossing, 2012, and it’s loaded cast – John Cusack, Amanda Peet, Woody Harrelson, Oliver Platt, Danny Glover. Directed by Roland Emmerich , 2012 depicts the series of natural disasters which threaten mankind. It’s on the better side of three hours long (158 minutes), but the story continues to move, with great performances by Cusack (no surprise) and Glover (a little bit of surprise).

March 2 releases:
* 2012
* Alice
* Bitch Slap
* Curious George 2: Follow That Monkey
* Gentlemen Broncos
* Ponyo
* The Private Lives of Pippa Lee
* Where the Wild Things Are
