(TAG 5 is a top five list compiled by secret ballot, submitted by the four horsemen of TAG. An extremely complicated equation is used to calculate the polls. Mostly they are related to SGF, sometimes they are not. A new TAG 5 is released every Monday.)
The time has come to throw down. Pick up your fork and draw some lines. SGF is known for its cashew chicken. Heck, it’s the birthplace. You can find Springfield Style Cashew Chicken on both coasts (even Hollywood Boulevard – we should rally to get a star on the strip, any thoughts?). This is the cashew gravy boomtown, and we’re all on the train. Sweatsuit too small guy knows what I’m talkin’ about. Hong Kong Inn is this city’s version of a cult favorite. Everybody scarfed it in college and it holds a place in your heart – delicious, huge portion and inexpensive doesn’t hurt either. Wing Leong is a direct descendant in SGF’s cashew chicken chain. It was his family which created the recipe on the north side generations ago. His recipe took two early first-place votes, and is housed at Fire and Ice, even after he was fired. Shame. Shame. What’s your favorite spots to grab a cashew chicken lunch? Let us know below.
