We have a little story for you. One night over a conversation at The Outland Brian Azevedo, bass/guitar/singer for Cropdusters and drummer for Sweethwater Abiline, expressed to us a desire to begin a show featuring only acoustic singer-songwriters that would travel around to different bars all over the city each month. For a city loaded with songwriting talent but starved for good acoustic shows, it seemed to us like a brilliant idea–so much so, in fact, that we have organized a kickoff party for it. We asked Brian to contact artists he would like to have perform and we did the same. Together, we have put together what might be the largest gathering of songwriters the city of Springfield has seen in years, maybe ever. It’s all going down next Thursday, March 4 at Lindberg’s during TAG’s monthly showcase, and if you haven’t made it to any of the previous editions we have a good feeling you’ll want to mark your calendar for this one. The list of performers scheduled to appear is just staggering. Here’s the list as it stands now, listed in alphabetical order and subject to change:
Brian Azevedo of The Cropdusters
Todd Balisle of The Bootheel
Tessa Diehl
Colin Elmore of Berch
Mike Evans of Ilijah
Cory King of Sunrise Cassette and The First Teenager Ever
Daniel Maple of The Never Saints
Steve Newman of The Honkytonk Renovators
Devlin Pierce
Chance Ray of Chance Ray & The Good Sinners
Lance Sitton of The Seed
Yankton Sothern of HeartPunch
Ryan Spilken of The North Decade
Jeff Thompson of Bottlefish
J.R. Top of Sweetwater Abilene
Jeb Venable of The Cropdusters
Eric Weiler of The Eric Weiler Band
Cindy Woolf
Jacob “Toad” Wyrick of The Detectives
James Legault and Chris Heifner of Agent 15 (formerly The Magnificents)
Wanna know the best part? You can see them all for $5. We’ll get going at 10 p.m. and continue until bar close. Come early and stay late, as your favorite artist could go on at any point during the show. Better yet, if you’re not familiar with any of these artists come down and take in the full experience of some of the best original-music makers this city has to offer. They’ll be coming to your neighborhood bar soon.
