The infatuation with booking big-ticket country artists in Springfield in 2010 continues. How is this for a surprise: Josh Turner, the man behind such songs as “Firecracker,” “Your Man” and his current chart-topper, “Why Don’t We Just Dance,” will be performing at Juanita K. Hammons Hall for the Performing Arts on Thursday, March 25. According to Missouri State’s ticket box office, presale tickets are scheduled to go on sale this morning at 10 a.m. with full availability coming Thursday. Yeah, we would have liked a little more notice, too. The site doesn’t list a price range for the tickets yet, so you’ll have to wait until they’re on sale to know how much to pay unless there’s a corresponding ad-and-announcement campaign coming a la Carrie Underwood. It’s another significant pop-country catch for the city, netting a contemporary artist still at the top of his game and, for what it’s worth, one who is billed as sort of the Barry White of modern country music because of his unusually deep voice. When 10 a.m. rolls around, you can purchase your tickets by calling 417-836-7678 (toll-free at 1-888-476-7849) or clicking on this link to purchase them online.
