Dunk of the year? Trey Starks gets nasty on Joplin

Trey Starks went manchild on Joplin on Tuesday night.

Go ahead and sit down, and if you’re sitting down, grab on to something. Why? Because once you see this clip of Hillcrest High School senior Trey Starks dunk over Joplin‘s 6-foot-6 center, you’re likely going to want to leap out of your chair.

Thanks to the Hillcrest coaching staff, who passed along this clip of Starks’ nastiness during Tuesday’s 60-53 victory at Joplin. Play it five or six times and check out all the angles. How he got to the paint. His takeoff point. The authority he throws it down with. How he grabs the rim and holds on. How the Hillcrest coaches all had different reactions. Also, watch the Hornet fans in the top right corner. Awesome.

So filthy. I keep watching it, expecting him to slow down at the top of the key because there’s no place to go. The coaches are great because immediately Schaefer goes back to directing his defense. Last night at Weiser he said he sees it every day in practice. I don’t think I could ever be conditioned enough to not freak out.

You see Treys uncle in the stands get up and run outta the gym after that? Dorial also had a nice dunk on a kid to start the 2nd half.

Someone needs to try to get a film from last friday 2-12-10 at west plains. A kid from waynesville went above the block to get an alley-oop. one hand throw down over a kid from west plains. i saw it live, but would love to see tape of it. i think it might compare with starks dunk.
