Stephanie Phillips basketball fundraiser is tonight

Kickapoo girls' basketball coach Stephanie Phillips announced she was taking a leave of absence last week because of worsening health.

Tonight is the night to be a part of something special.

Kickapoo High School is holding a faculty vs. alumni basketball game on at 5:30 p.m. today.. Tickets are $5 and donations will be accepted at the gate during the game. There is also a silent auction to raise money.

Phillips, Kickapoo’s girls’ basketball who has been battling cancer since August 2007, has been diagnosed with Stage 4 colon cancer and recently announced she was taking a leave of absence to focus on her family and her health. Phillips has a 201-37 record in nine seasons and has led Kickapoo to two state championships (2003 and 2005).

Alumni players include Greta Wiersch, Molly Carter, Leslie Hanchey, Hannah Carter, Kailey Mock, Holly Wade, Beth Garrision and Lindsey Erickson.
