(TAG 5 is a top five list compiled by secret ballot, submitted by the four horsemen of TAG. An extremely complicated equation is used to calculate the polls. Mostly they are related to SGF, sometimes they are not. A new TAG 5 is released every Monday.)
After live-blogging last night‘s Grammy Awards, we realized our ceremony would have gone a little bit differently, so we present our best albums of 2009. We all have a little different tastes in music, but there was enough crossover to compile an incredibly strong list of Best Albums. Brother Ali and Mos Def top the list ahead of Slug and Murs with Felt 3. A couple of debut albums – Them Crooked Vultures and Street Sweeper Social Club – tied with Pilgrim’s Red Collar to fill out the list. If you haven’t heard these albums, become familiar, buy them and enjoy. What 2009 albums would have made your list?
