The Great Blizzard of 2010 didn’t amount to much last night, but Springfield is about to be blanketed anyway. The TAG Team is putting on two concerts in town on the same night in an attempt to bring as many people as much epic music as they can absorb. Tonight is the second edition of TAG’s monthly showcase concerts at Lindberg’s, and it’s one you won’t want to miss. Brian Parton is coming up from Arkansas to delve out his darkly cinematic rockabilly, and local bluegrass powerhouse Honky Suckle–they of the recently released album Derelict, one of our albums to hear from 2009–opening the night. You can get in for just $4, and music will start sometime after 10.
That’s just one option. There’s also the (not so) little matter of TAG Magazine’s launch party at The Ugly Mug Live Music Tavern (3050 N. Kentwood Ave., or see Google map below), with Earshot, Future Leaders of the World, Last Night’s Disaster, Formant and As Of Now. Tickets are $12 at the door (plus a $4 surcharge for those under 21), which opens at 8 p.m. We’re proud to bring The Ugly Mug its first major touring act since opening in late November, and we’re proud to bring you two incredible live-music parties with which to kick the TAG era off on the right foot. The last time this Tennessee group rolled through town our cell phones were blowing up all through the show. “These guys are awesome!” “Have you ever heard Modoc before?” “You’ve gotta check this out.” They’re back tonight with one of the local scene’s under-the-radar singer/songwriter names to watch. Expect a fabulous show.
