The Springfield Regional Arts Council announces a Call for Artists to participate in its 2nd Annual “Hearts for the Arts”, an event featuring a fund raising exhibition and silent auction of heart-themed works from January 11 through February 5 at The Creamery Arts Center. Proceeds to benefit the Arts Council’s arts education programming.

Local and regional artists of all ages and experience are invited to participate and are asked to submit visual or written works on 11×14 canvas using any medium of their choice. Works submitted should incorporate a heart or have a heart theme into the visual or written composition. Artists are invited to submit up to two pieces for the event and must drop off the artworks on or before Tuesday, January 5 between 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. at the Arts Council office at The Creamery Arts Center. National Art Shop, located on South National Ave., is generously offering 30% off their 11×14 canvases to all artists that participate in “Hearts for the Arts”. Any alternative media questions or submissions, please contact the Arts Council 417-862-2787 (ARTS).

Although the Arts Council has a policy of not asking artists to donate works, this is an exception where there will be no monetary contribution to the artists and writers; however, their names will be greatly exposed with their work on display for a month during the bidding process and will also be featured during February First Friday Art Walk at The Creamery Arts Center.

The silent auction bidding will launch at The Creamery Arts Center and online on Monday, January 11 and will culminate on First Friday Art Walk, Friday, February 5 from 6 p.m.- 9 p.m..

All proceeds from “Hearts for the Arts” will benefit the Arts Council’s arts education programs that support local teaching artists and local arts organizations reaching over 30,000 children annually in the 27-county region the Arts Council serves. Programs include Arts in the Park Summer Workshops with the Springfield Community Center, Artist-In-Residence, the Greater Ozarks Art Tour (G.O.A.T.), Mini Monet Mondays for at-risk preschool age children, Arts Education Scholarships, Partners in Education and after-school programs with Springfield Public Schools and the Springfield-Greene County Park Board.
