This guy is pissed about his health!
So, we’re here at the Blue and Gold Tournament, trying to talk about how impressive the Nixa boys’ basketball team looked, or how none of the seeded teams at the Pink and White Tournament could win, when this came over our Twitter feed:
Urban Meyer steps down at Florida
We keep waiting for ESPN to take it down, but apparently it’s real. Health reasons? Come on. He’s 45. No offense, but it had better be a pretty horrible situation to leave the best football job in the country, right?
So, it has our brains churning. Who in the world is going to get the Florida job? And how long is the domino trail going to be? Four jobs? More?
Here are our early candidates:
- Bob Stoops, Oklahoma — He’s a former Florida coordinator
- Kirk Ferentz, Iowa — Everyone seems to like him
- Chris Peterson, Boise State — Hottest name in the business (Now that Brian Kelly left Cincy)
- Gary Patterson, TCU — He’d better beat Boise St., right?
- Jim Harbaugh, Stanford — Or is he waiting for the NFL?
- Mike Riley, Oregon State — Sleeper candidate
- Mike Leach, Texas Tech — Crazy spread. Wins games. Likes Pirates. Why not?
- Terry Allen, Missouri State (just kidding)
We’ll start there. Anyone that we’re missing?
